Why not Mediatek 4G solution?
In 2019, we also tried the MTK solution as there was no better solution in the market, but the results turned out disappointing. Firstly, the cost of the MTK motherboard was high; the finalized wholesale price was around 40 USD. The customer didn’t stop because of the price, as 4G technology is the future; for some countries, like Australia and Singapore, 2G was shut down, and there was no alternative solution.
However, the overall performance was embarrassing. Videophone calls as a new feature are not mature, and connection stability needs to be improved. The biggest headache was the battery drain and device overheating during charging and usage.
Technically, many solutions emerged to face the problems. For example, the device would go into sleep mode during the night. And there was a cooling paste on the Li-ion battery to improve heat dispersion.
It was not enough, and complaints continued.
Fortunately, a few months later, UNISOC offered a cheaper and stable solution. Then we just embraced it without any hesitation.
How about the Qualcomm wearable solution?
Although Wonlex is a well-known wearable tracking solution manufacturer, we are still too small to work with first-class chipset companies. Even though we can produce with the Qualcomm chipset, our working partners are also not able to sell enough quantities. So it won’t work at all.
Any Other brand working with UNISOC 8521E?
From the public information we can get, we can see the top brands of kids GPS watch suppliers are working with UNISOC 8521E.
In Nov. 2019, Imoo kids watch Q2 launched with UNISOC 8521E. IMOO is a subsidiary brand belonging to BBK Electronics. BBK Electronics is the world's second-largest phone manufacturer that owns the famous brands Oppo, Vivo, OnePlus, Realme, and iQOO. From the research data, imoo is the number one company in sales volume for children's smartwatches in the world (2019).
In April. 2020, Xiaomi Mi Kids Watch 4 launched with UNISOC 8521E. Talking about Xiaomi Wearable products, the Mi Bands as fitness trackers are the top-selling in the world for years. Although Mi Kids watches do not have much impression in the global market, they are still big potential competitors.
What is UNISOC 8521E capable of?
Flexible on the firmware customization. The operating system based on 8521E is developed from Android 4.4.2. So deep customization can be done based on Android software. One of the common customized requirements is adding or replacing new APKs that are compatible with the current OS.
4G LTE Network brings big benefits. It is a great choice for countries that no longer support the 2G network. And the WIFI connection for data can save much data consumption. And the LTE network makes video call connections and stable communication happen.
More possibilities. As we all know, Android is an open-source platform; once you are capable, you can create many interesting and useful functions for the users. For example, more games, music player and, emoji messages, SMS, etc.
